Happy Navaratri to one or all.
Who is Devi? Excerpt from Lalithaa Sahasranaama:
SHE who is all the three forms: the prayer, devotee and the object prayed upon
SHE who is BEYOND the difference between religiousness and heresy
SHE who takes up the form of UNIVERSE in the wake up state (of the observer)
SHE who is THE AURA of the soul in the dreaming state (of the observer)
SHE who is THE AWARENESS in the deep sleep (of the observer)
SHE who IS the fourth state called THURYAA, (here the observer is one with the observed), and
SHE who is beyond the differences perceived in the forms of existence
The fourth state thuryaa is nothing but sat-chit-aananada or the state of 'eternal bliss'.
Note the advaitha philosophy being upheld throughout Brahmanda Purana (of which Lalitha sahasranama is a part).
How to know / understand Devi?
Devi can easily be understood/known if one looks/meditates inward, understands oneself, i.e. understands the process of self-realization. AND it is not easy to understand Devi by meditating upon the worldly objects of Maya.
